HIV Prevention and Peer Education

In Maryland, HIV rates among Latinos continue to rise, and today Latinos carry twice the burden of infection than they did ten years ago. Identity addresses this important community issue through our HIV Prevention program. We provide free and confidential counseling and testing services in both Spanish and English at three sites, at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, and through a mobile unit.

Identity trains youth Peer Educators to conduct community outreach and education activities. Peer Educators canvass open public spaces and visit youth gathering sites throughout Montgomery County to deliver their HIV prevention message and invite members of the public to access counseling and testing services at our testing sites. They also convene groups of their peers to conduct HIV education workshops.

Identity's HIV Counseling and Testing services are provided at no cost and on a walk-in basis, although appointments can be scheduled by calling 301-422-2398. Our regular HIV testing hours are:
