During winter break, Identity helped organize three days of Holiday Hoops Open Gym at Watkins Mill High School – where 185 young people came back to school for basketball from 1:00 to 5:00 over the three days of December 27th – 29th. The holidays can be an especially high-risk time for young people. Holiday Hoops turned that around with good food, a safe place to hang out, and some epic dunks. In addition, successful young professionals from the community volunteered to come by every day at 3:00 to share their stories and encourage youth to think about goals beyond high school. The December Holiday Hoops is the second such event in partnership with Watkins Mill High School, the Identity managed Wellness Center, and the 480 Club.
