School Supply Drive & Distribution
Returning to school will be challenging for many students. It is especially difficult for students whose connection to school is insecure or fragile. This includes those who are new to the country and our system of education. One small but impactful way we can increase the likelihood of success and support their school connectedness is to provide them with the supplies they will need and an in-person “welcome” from caring adults.
Our goal is to fill 700-800 backpacks with age-appropriate supplies and personal notes of encouragement for students enrolled in elementary, middle and high school, or in GED and workforce training programs. Backpacks will be distributed at Gaithersburg High School on August 21 or dropped off at students’ homes.
