On October 15, 2019, the Black and Brown Coalition for Educational Equity and Excellence, comprised of more than 25 community partners, hosted its first ever Black and Brown Forum for Educational Equity and Excellence.
With more than 1,000 parents, students, and community members present, the Coalition unveiled data points that illustrate systemic patterns of inequity negatively impacting Black, Brown and low-income students in Montgomery County.
During the event, the Coalition publicly called on county leaders, including members of the Board of Education, the Superintendent, the County Council, the County Executive, and the leaders of school associations, to commit to taking specific and measurable action on the asks presented during the evening on behalf of Black and Brown students.
