Identity’s support of Latino and other minority youth was honored by Telemundo on September 15, as part of the television network’s annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration.
Executive Director Diego Uriburu accepted a special certificate from Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett for Identity’s 18 years of service to the community, especially to Latino and other highly vulnerable youth in the county.
Following a short talk from 24-year-old businessman Jose Lovos, a proud former client of Identity, Diego delivered the keynote speech, in which he challenged the crowd to get to know, mentor, and hire the youth served by Identity who have already proven their resilience and grit.
Telemundo also celebrated Teresa Wright, Sonia Mora, Jerry and Sheldon Shapiro, J. Henry Montes, and Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard with special awards.
All of the awardees have touched the lives of Identity youth over the years, helping many local young people along the way to successful adulthood and to becoming strong contributors to their communities in Montgomery County.
