Identity has an opportunity for a bilingual (English and Spanish) Trauma-Informed Specialist. Services provided by the Trauma-Informed Specialist will include planning, coordinating, and implementing culturally competent, non-clinical, trauma-informed healing programs for youth and families with complex trauma as COVID-19 compounds their pre-existing economic vulnerability, language isolation, anti-immigrant fears and unaddressed prior Adverse Childhood Experiences and other traumas (such as from family separations). Responsibilities include using trauma-informed care expertise to be a resource and support to other Identity programs. Due to COVID-19, this job currently is to be performed remotely.

Identity Case Workers will be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, and results oriented team to provide wraparound services, resources, and information to clients. Caseworkers will assess client needs and develops an action plan to provide case management. Responsibilities include: maintaining detailed documentation for each client, completing needs assessments, develop action plans to provide referrals for food and housing assistance, apply for county services, provide information how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and/or make appointments for COVID-19 testing services, and provides follow-up surveys.

Identity has an opportunity for a bilingual (English and Spanish) Youth Development Specialist at the Watkins Mill and Wheaton High School-Based Health & Wellness Centers they manage in Montgomery County, Maryland. Services provided by the Youth Development Specialist will include planning, coordinating and implementing curriculum-based programs using the Positive Youth Development Model as the theoretical basis for programming; working with youth and their families to identify critical needs; making referrals to social services; and providing ongoing support and mentoring. Responsibilities include working with the Wellness Center staff team to establish and maintain strong collaboration with school partners to facilitate the referral of students to Wellness Center programs and services. The Youth Development Specialist will provide leadership, support, and expertise to meet the needs of youth and families. Due to COVID-19, this job currently is to be performed remotely.

Recreation Assistant (Part-time)

Identity is seeking a part-time recreation assistant to help provide coaching and support to Identity’s Recreation Program. The recreation assistant will help deliver in-person and virtual programming to cohorts of 20-25 students, and depending on pandemic, may shift to in-person facilitation with social distancing and safety procedures in place. Responsibilities include planning, coordination, and implementation of Identity’s after school organized sports programs for high-risk, underserved youth in middle school and high school residing in Montgomery County, Maryland. This position is a contractual position for 30-hours a week through June 30, 2021.

Contract Positions

Identity is seeking a Bilingual ESOL Instructor for our young adult students. Classes are held at the Crossroads Youth Opportunity Center (CYOC) in Takoma Park, MD. (Due to COVID-19, classes are temporarily remote). We need an instructor to provide up to 10 hours of classes weekly, generally from 4-6pm. The Bilingual ESOL Instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering ESOL instruction/tutoring with the goal of helping youth pass from beginner, to intermediate, to the highest level. This is a professional part-time position with opportunities to innovate, create, grow, and advance.

The ESOL program is one of the flagship programs of Identity’s Youth Opportunity Centers. It complements our workforce development program, designed for opportunity youth up to age 25. Our goal is to support these young people in their transition to adulthood, helping them move closer to acquiring the skills and experiences necessary to secure steady employment and be on a path toward self-sufficiency. All our work is grounded in the Positive Youth Development model, supported by intensive family case management and counseling.
