The New Year brings new and expanded out-of-school-time programs to 170 Identity youth. Thanks to Maryland’s 21st Century Community Learning Center grants, students at Whetstone Elementary, Neelsville Middle School, Wheaton, and Watkins Mill High Schools will get social-emotional and extra academic supports to help them on their way to reach grade level or graduate.
Wheaton High School’s “KnightTime” program, a collaboration with the school to help ESOL students stay on track to graduate, has expanded to Watkins Mill High School for their own “Wolverine Time” program.
At Neelsville Middle School, Identity is partnering with teachers to provide individually tailored math and reading enrichment, combined with our signature positive youth development curriculum and fun activities. Finally, at Whetstone Elementary the academic focus is to help struggling second and third graders read on grade level, expanding our elementary social-emotional skill building and reading support program to four schools.
