Hispanic leaders, key advocates, and elected officials hosted a virtual press conference about the 2020 Census on Friday, August 7.

Video of the press conference is available on Facebook, hosted by the University of Maryland Community Engagement Facebook page

The Maryland Latino Census Coalition is committed to outreach efforts to ensure hard-to-count communities respond to the census, and this press conference highlighted the latest operational updates from the U.S. Census Bureau. Nora Morales, program director, represented Identity during the press conference.

IMPORTANT DATES:

August 11: The U.S. Census Bureau began field data collection operation to ensure responses from households that have not yet self-responded to the 2020 Census.

September 30: Field data collection and self-response will now end by September 30, 2020 instead of October 31, 2020. The shortened time for data collection makes it even more important that everyone in the community understands the importance of being counted and completes the census as soon as possible.
